Can it be I stayed away too long?
Did I leave your mind when I was gone?
It’s not my thing trying to get back
But this time let me tell you where I’m at

I wanna, wanna be where you are, oh, oh
Anywhere you are, oh, oh
I wanna, wanna be where you are, oh, oh
Everywhere you are, oh, oh

Can it be I stayed away too long?
Did I leave your mind when I was gone?
It’s not my thing trying to get back
But this time let me tell you where I’m at

‘Cuz I wanna, be where you are, oh, oh
Any, anywhere you are, oh, oh
I wanna, wanna be where you are, oh, oh
Everywhere you are, oh, oh

I wanna be, I wanna be, ooh
Yeah, yeah,
I wanna be, I wanna be, oh

I wanna be, I wanna be, oh
Yeah, baby
I wanna be, I wanna be, oooh

History

“I Wanna Be Where You Are” was originally written by Arthur Ross and Leon Ware for Micheal Jackson during his early solo career at Motown. Jackson recorded the song when he was just 13 years old and it hit number 16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart when it was released in 1972. This is one of Michael Jackson’s most covered songs.
