Paparazzi - Waiting Outside the Lines - EP

We are the crowd,
we’re c-coming out
Got my flash on it’s true
Need that picture of you, it’s so magical
We’d be so fantastical

Leather and jeans, your watch glamorous
Not sure what it means
But this photo of us it don’t have a price
Ready for those flashing lights, ’cause you know that baby I

I’m your biggest fan,
I’ll follow you until you love me
Paparazzi
Baby there’s no other superstar, you know that I’ll be
Paparazzi

Promise I’ll be kind
But I won’t stop until that girl is mine
‘Cause baby you’ll be famous
Chase you down until you love me
Paparazzi

I’ll be good backstage at your show
Velvet ropes and guitars
Because your my rock star
In between the sets eyeliner and cigarettes

Shadow is burnt
Why you dancin’ with him
My lashes are dry
Purple teardrops I cry
It don’t have the price
Loving you is cherry pie
‘Cause you know that baby I

I’m your biggest fan,
I’ll follow you until you love me
Paparazzi
Baby there’s no other superstar, you know that I’ll be
Paparazzi

I’m your biggest fan,
I’ll follow you until you love me
Paparazzi
Baby there’s no other superstar, you know that I’ll be
Paparazzi

Promise I’ll be kind
But I won’t stop until that girl is mine
And baby you’ll be famous
Chase you down until you love me
Paparazzi

History

“Paparazzi” was the final single off of Lady Gaga’s debut album The Fame (2008). According to Greyson, he knew that he wanted to be a musician and performer after watching Lady Gaga’s performance of “Poker Face” at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards that were held on September 13, 2009. When Greyson was attempting to choose a song to perform at his sixth grade choral festival, he initially wanted to play a cover of Augustana’s “Fire,” but his mother convinced him to play Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” instead. Mrs. Chance was unable to make her son’s performance at the festival, so Mr. Chance video taped the performance for her. On April 28, 2010, not long after the performance, Greyson decided to upload the video of him playing “Paparazzi” on his greyson97 YouTube channel. A few weeks later, the video went viral amassing millions of hits and culminating with Greyson being invited to perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and eventually being signed to a recording contract.

A studio version of “Paparazzi” was first released as the second song on the physical “Waiting Outside the Lines” single on October 26, 2010.
